Hello — I’m so glad you are here.
I am a psychodynamic therapist committed to helping patients learn to authentically love themselves, genuinely connect with others, and pursue their desires. I provide therapy in-person in Issaquah, Washington and online to all residents of Washington state.
We’ve each been shaped by our culture, life experiences, and biological make-up in a particular way and have developed defenses and coping strategies that have allowed us to navigate difficult situations. Our minds and bodies are truly amazing at this — but you are likely here because past patterns aren’t working for you anymore.
Psychotherapy helps open a door to consider the conscious and unconscious processes that influence our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is a tool that helps us better understand, tolerate, and integrate the various parts of ourselves. Therapy is not about striving for perfection, dismissing harm that has been done, or only recognizing the parts of our lives that we want to publicly disclose, but rather identifying and inspecting what is both easy and difficult to admit with curiosity and tenderness. It is an ongoing work of slow growth as we pursue our desires and seek transformation.
People who work with me say they feel seen and understood — that even when therapy feels hard, it opens up new ways of being with themselves.
Specialties
Religious &
Spiritual Issues
Spiritual traumas are often thought of as religious leaders abusing their power and churches or institutions covering it up, but it is so much more. It can be the impact of harmful theology or purity cultures, isolation and grief over a changing belief system, or event experiences of betrayal if you’re rejected by your community.
I co-facilitate a support group for people navigating religious and spiritual harm.
Women &
Life Transitions
Female identifying individuals face a unique set of challenges that are influenced by various social and cultural expectations. I have worked with people navigating new jobs and relationships; those adjusting to parenthood, divorce, and terminal illness; and others struggling with friendships, grieving losses, or facing difficult realities (i.e., abuses and traumas) they’ve previously overlooked, denied, and resisted admitting.
Children &
Parental Support
I am passionate about using play therapy to help young kids process experiences that they cannot yet put into words. I hope to have a physical space to conduct play therapy space, beginning this fall.
I also offer support for parents who are learning how to be the parent they wish they’d had growing up and co-teach Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT) classes annually.
