Healing from Religious Trauma
& Spiritual Abuse
Your experience was real.
Your healing can be too.
Religious trauma doesn’t always look the way people expect. It isn’t always overt abuse, a high-control leader, or a dramatic exit.
Sometimes it’s the slow accumulation of messages that taught you to distrust your own mind, body, and identity, or your natural instincts and desires, or even your own worth.
Religious trauma isn’t defined by the intensity of the event. It’s defined by the impact it had on you.

Not sure if what you experienced ‘counts’ as Religious Trauma?
That’s exactly why we’re here.
You might be in the right place if:
- You second-guess yourself constantly, even in small decisions
- You carry shame that feels hard to trace back to anything specific
- You feel like you’re never quite enough, no matter what you do
- Relationships feel complicated by loyalty, guilt, or fear of rejection
- You’ve started questioning beliefs you were raised with and don’t know what to do with that
- You find yourself people-pleasing or avoiding conflict at the cost of your own needs
- You struggle with your sense of identity, sexuality, or body image in ways connected to religion or spirituality
- Something just feels off, even if you can’t quite name it yet
You don’t have to be certain that religion is the source. Therapy is a space to explore that together.
What We Offer
We offer individual and group therapy for adults navigating the lasting effects of harmful religious or spiritual experiences.
Whether you left your faith community last year or decades ago, you’re still attending, or you’re not sure where you stand, we are here to help with a nonjudgmental presence that moves at your pace.
You won’t be asked to label your experience, take a particular stance on faith, or have anything figured out before you begin.
Services are available to Washington state residents online or in-person in Issaquah and on Bainbridge Island.

If your religious or spiritual history has left you feeling anxious, ashamed, or disconnected from yourself, you’re in the right place and therapy can help.
